Background/Experience: I have participated in many births in the role of a doula. This has included massages, support, comfort, and undivided attention. I recently had a very active role in my sister's labor and delivery. She had planned to have a natural water birth but ended up having an induction and therefore needed to be supported differently than planned. I was able to keep her cool, hydrated and as comfortable as possible with these changes.
What led you to become a Doula?: When I was a teenager, I told my Mom I wanted to be part of the childbirth process for women in some way. I was especially drawn to labor and delivery and how magical it is. She told me about the doula profession and how they give emotional and physical support to laboring mothers. Right away, I knew it was for me! I got married at 18 and started a family of my own. So, my doula dreams went to the back burner for a while. I learned so much through the labor, delivery and postpartum of my children. My experiences include 2 natural waterbirth deliveries and I miscarried twins at 13 weeks. I feel that has added confidence to my passion to be an understanding and supportive doula.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: I can't help but smile and feel overjoyed inside for the mother and the whole family that will be impacted by the new addition. It gives joy and more love than they could ever imagine. Nothing more magical than a new baby!
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: As a new mom, support was so important to me. As a doula, the greatest gift I can give is my invaluable support for this new journey you are beginning. This is such an exciting and amazing time!

What is your favorite place to vacation?: Lake Michigan and the Ocean! Anywhere I can sink my toes in warm sand and hear the water is PERFECTION!
What is your favorite food?: My Husbands Famous Fish Tacos. They are the bomb! Oh... and dark chocolate has stole my heart!
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: I love to get in my comfy clothes, crawl in bed and watch TV shows or a really good movie.
